Murray holds a BA and MA (Hons) in Modern History from the University of Sydney, an MA (Hons) in Early Christian and Jewish Studies from Macquarie University, and a GradDipEd from the University of New England. He worked for two years as a staffworker with the Evangelical Union at Sydney University, and then taught Ancient History and World Religions for six years in Sydney high schools.
Murray's current PhD research is exploring the origins and implications of early Christian 'second coming' expectation. He has recently returned from research in Israel under the auspices of the Sir Asher Joel Foundation, and has written two chapters for a book on 'The Content and Setting of the Gospel Traditions' (Eerdmans: forthcoming).
Murray is on the pastoral leadership team at Kogarah Presbyterian Church in southern Sydney, where he lives with his wife Lynette and two young children.
